Antietam Valley Needs Your Help
Rebuilding the Antietam Valley one year after the flood

We are looking for volunteers 16 years or older who have general construction skills as well as those who are willing to learn.

We will be rebuilding residential homes damaged by the flood of July of 2023. We will be installing drywall, insulation, replacing skirting on trailers, etc...

This will happen on June 20 in the Antietam Valley area.

Why are we doing this? To help our neighbors recover after the damage caused by the flood of July 9, 2023

Registration is required: Please contact Sharon Sgriccia, to register and for more information.

The Antietam Valley Unmet Needs Roundtable exists to help surviors of the July 9 storms in Berks County, Pa. It is a partnership of the Antietam Valley Community Partnercip, (AVCP), Pennside Presbyterian Church, Lutheran Disaster Response, and the PA SouthEast Conference, UCC.

General Information for Volunteers
Cruise Nights 5/2/24
Opening Night a Success!

Last week, Cruise Nights opened to a beautiful evening with not a cloud in the sky. The parking lot was full along with the dining room. We sold hamburgers and cheeseburgers on opening night along with our standard items of Hot Dogs, a new addition of hamburger BBQ, tossed salads, milk shakes and sundaes. We hope that you will support this fundraiser for the church and come out for dinner. Service starts at 5 pm and goes until 7 pm. The group was advised that we would not be hosting a cruise night on three nights this year, the first one on June 13 as we will be attending the Reading Phillies. We will post the entire list in an upcoming post. The group also agreed to be here on Halloween and host a Trunk or Treat.

Consistory Contractor Project
These are the contractors that you, our congregation, have shared with us.

Thank you for sharing these contractors with us. There is a good cross-section of trades represented. We hope that this helps with whatever project you have at your home. We know that you trust them to give good work at a fair price.

Thank you from Day Springs
Thank you for your generosity

The staff at Day Springs put together a video to thank everyone who made Christmas a special time for the residents of the facility. I think from the smiles on their faces, everyone did a great job in making Christmas a special time for them. Click the button to play the video

Coffee Time after worship has a new name
Welcome to Fellow-sip time

We have been having a time of fellowship after the service each week with coffee and cookies. I forgot to add it to the calendar at the back of the bulletin this week and while I was typing it in, I missed the "h" in Fellowship. Thus the Fellow-sip time is born after getting approval from Pastor Bob to leave my typo in the bulletin. Some mistakes are just worth it. - Jeff

What are you thankful for?
The Leaf Project

As Thanksgiving fast approaches, we'd like to know what you are thankful for? There is a basket of leaves on the table in the lobby with sharpies, just write on them what you are thankful for and pin them to the board at the end of the table. Let's fill the sign with all that we have to be thankful for.

Marianne Lubenow

Our next commitment to Family Promise will be the week of November 20th. This week includes Thanksgiving so we will be supplying the families with food to make a Thanksgiving dinner. In order to supply these meals we are asking for grocery gift cards to Giant, Redners or Weis. In the past you have been very generous and allowed us to not only supply this one dinner but enable the clients to purchase other needed groceries and household supplies. You truly make a difference when you give to Family Promise. Your donations and gift cards help local homeless people in often 3 months time achieve the goals of housing, jobs and a path to a better life. Thank you for your recent donations of hygiene products. The FP staff were very appreciative. Gift cards may be given to Marti Smith, Marianne Lubenow or dropped off at the church office. THANK YOU!
